Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;

I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Dayani: It was a normal day when we visit the dump at 10 in the morning, immediately it caught my attention an area where there was recycled material and a one year old was playing alone with a plastic bottle. I took a closer look to see if I could feed her and talk to her, when I notice that on her side there was a shoebox with something wrapped inside it, I took the blanket off and notice there was a baby inside. I asked the little girl but she didn’t understood me, so I asked someone who was close to the baby where her mom was. He told me that her mom was working (like 35 meters away from her) and that her bigger sister Angie was responsible for baby Dayani.

Few minutes later, her mom came closer and I asked her if I could hold the baby in the shoebox, she told me that the baby was sick for a couple of days. When I hold her I notice she had trouble breathing. I proposed to her to take her to the clinic, she answered worriedly how much will that cost because she had no money. I told her she didn’t had to pay. We immediately took her to the doctor and he said she had a chronic bronchopneumonia and only a few days to live.

The doctor suggested that she couldn’t be living anymore in the plastic house were she and her family lived inside the garbage dump. It took some effort but I convinced Dayani’s mom to take her with me, she accepted and I took care of her for a year in my house. Angie started going to the nursery.

Thanks to God’s mercy that allowed me to visit the dump that day and I could meet Angie and Dayani. She is four years now, she’s healthy and living in a new home. Angie is now in preschool.
